Beginning at the Creek in historic Dubai, the 3.2 km long canal travels through Business Bay's commercial district before joining the Arabian Gulf. Along with being an important attraction of interest, the Canal offers excellent connections within the city, with boats, ferries, Arabic Dhows, abras, and yachts among its modes of transportation.

Along the Dubai Water Canal, numerous developments, including high-end apartments and hotels, have sprung up since it opened. The surrounding public space will be upgraded with retail establishments, a marina, a boardwalk, and leisure centers, adding a plethora of new activities and attractions to the lifestyle development. Surrounding the canal, the Public Realm is a development with restaurants, shops, and places to relax. The Dubai Canal is delightful owing to its many amenities, three of which connect the two sides of the waterway and the other five are pedestrian bridges. A stroll in the morning or the evening is perfect on the bridges, one of which even has a concrete incline that cyclists can use. On both sides, visitors can also enjoy the use of elevators, running tracks, bike lanes, seating areas, and smart charging stations.
